Telling the Family

Today we broke the news to most of my (Brad) family. Though Mom and Dad and one brother found out last week, today my Mom had most of the family over for Sunday lunch. Supposedly, it was for my nephew Sam's 13th birthday which was earlier this week.
What Sarah and I didn't know was that when my Mom invited everyone, she had made an effort to make sure that people would show up. As a result, while we were eating, people were trying to figure what was going on, what was the reason, what was the big news.
Finally, after lunch, my brother Bo had to suddenly leave for a work related matter. I told Sarah beforehand that we were going to tell everyone by having her ask Lea (Bo's wife), who is a physical therapist, her medical opinion on our ultrasound picture.
Even before Sarah could show it to her, she knew what was up. We found out afterwards, that due to my mom's email earlier in the week, there was a list of possibilities for what the big news was. Sarah and I were way down on the list.
Needless to say everyone was surprised and excited for us.
Later on the day, I called my brother Bill down in Florida to tell him the news. As of today, all my family knows. The challenge will be to see if they all can keep a secret between now and when we decide to go fully public.
