Three Dogs, One Baby: 10 wonderful days

It's been 10 days since Nora was born, so I thought I would share 10 things about her that we've learned in the past week and a half.

1. She has the cutest dimples in her chubby cheeks and in her chin.

2. She has some of my and my family's physical traits, but overall, she looks like her Daddy's side of the family.

3. She is an "instant gratification" girl. When she is hungry, she goes from zero to freaking out in about 5 seconds. She opens her mouth like she wants to latch on and pecks at or sucks on whatever gets in her way. This has earned her the nicknames "Angry Bird" and "Hungry Chicken", or more affectionately just Birdie or Chicken.

4. She is stubborn as a mule. Not only does she want when she wants when she wants it, but if she DOESN'T want to eat, you can not pry her mouth open. She will stare you down and put an indignant pout on her face. Some people say she comes by this trait naturally. I'm not sure what they mean. ;)

5. She hates having her diaper changed and getting sponge bath, but once those things are over, she gives the best snuggles.

6. Her favorite lullabyes are "You are my Sunshine" and a song my Dad wrote called "From a Rockingchair". The latter is the only song I sang to her before she was born, so I like to think she recognizes it.

7. She really likes music in general. She likes it when someone sings to her, and she likes listening to music that is playing around her. You can see her little eyes start to look around as she tunes in to whatever music is being played or sung.

8. She is neither bothered by nor interested in the dogs, but they are very interested in her. They like to "check" on her when she is napping by peeking into her crib or playpen, and they like to sniff at her when she is being fed. I'm sure this relationship will change down the road as she grows.

9. She likes being swaddled, and is very content when she's all wrapped up like a "baby burrito".

10. She loves us so much (maybe almost as much as we love her) that it makes our hearts burst. There is nothing like the snuggles and sweet faces a newborn baby makes at you when they are totally content in your arms. I wish she would always love us as much as she does now.
